DOGE is a body set up to cut government spending with Tesla and X chief Elon Musk was the person chosen to achieve that mission. However, sources told Politico, both Trump and Musk have agreed that the tycoon will give up his government role to return to his companies.
The decision comes after the Trump administration concluded that Musk has become a ‘political liability’, causing frustration in much of the executive branch. According to experts, the world’s richest man is likely to step down between late May and early June, when his 130-day stint as a special government employee comes to an end.

DOGE cuts
In an effort to cut costs, Musk implemented a controversial tactic by laying off more than 6,000 government employees. While spending declined, so did the Federal Government’s ability to function, as various departments have been plunged into disaster and uncertainty in recent months.
However, late on Wednesday, the White House hit back at the claims and said that the allegations were ‘rubbish’ and that Musk will stand down from his DOGE responsibilities only when he has completed his ‘incredible job’.
