Goodbye to transfers as you knew them: Zelle changes at Bank of America and Wells Fargo
Zelle is one of simplest ways to transfer money quickly, although limits have been established depending on the bank you use it with.

Founded in 2016 by seven of the United States’ largest banks, including Bank of America and Wells Fargo, Zelle has become one of the most popular banking apps in the US thanks to its simplicity.
Users can transfer money almost instantaneously by entering only a contact’s mobile phone number or email address, rather than having to look up bank account details, which are often not at hand.
As a result, it’s incredibly fast and easy to make funds change hands. However, Zelle has established limits on how much money you can transfer, which varies depending on the bank you are using it in conjunction with. Remember that to use Zelle, you’ll have to link it to your bank account.

Additional Zelle limits
The figures listed above show the maximum amounts you can transfer. However, Zelle may impose additional restrictions depending on the type of account you have, your available balance, and your payment history. That can include weekly restrictions, in some cases.
If in doubt, check with your bank before making the transfer.
Can I increase my Zelle transfer limit?
Some banks may allow you to increase your limit if you can demonstrate a consistent transaction history, particularly involving the same contacts. In that case, you may be permitted to transfer higher amounts to certain people, although your overall limit for other contacts will remain unchanged.
Again, if you need to transfer an amount higher than the limit you have been set, get in touch with your bank directly.
How safe is it to send money with Zelle?
In general, Zelle is considered a secure way to send money because transactions don’t require you to share confidential financial information. Even so, it’s a good idea to enable authentication and monitoring features to help ensure all payments are properly authorized.
That said, Zelle is best used for sending money to people you know and trust.
