Goodbye to ‘typing’ on WhatsApp: what you need to know about the new change
The Meta-owned app will add a new feature for its users across the world, one that will be rolled out in the coming weeks.
In 2009, WhatsApp entered our lives, promising to revolutionize the way we communicate. Fifteen years later, the app has more than two billion active users, meaning over a quarter of the global population uses it. To maintain these impressive numbers, the platform continues to add new features that keep users engaged and loyal.
However, some people will no longer be able to enjoy these new functionalities, as WhatsApp will stop working on certain mobile phones starting in October. Those affected will need to upgrade their devices if they want to continue benefiting from the app’s updates. The latest feature expected to be integrated into WhatsApp is a new typing indicator in conversations. This change highlights the importance of having updated software and devices to fully enjoy the app’s evolving capabilities.
What’s new with WhatsApp design?
WABetaInfo recently shared details about WhatsApp’s new typing indicator.
Previously, when someone you were chatting with was typing, the indicator appeared at the top of the screen, just below the person’s name. With the new update, this typing indicator will now appear directly in the conversation window as a chat bubble.
“This update also applies to the voice recording indicator, ensuring a consistent experience for both typing and recording activities,” WABetaInfo explained. This redesign will appear in both individual and group chats.
The update is set to roll out in the coming weeks, but WhatsApp beta testers on Android are already able to enjoy this feature.
