Harris Teeter to close stores in 3 states this summer: Here’s every location
Harris Teeter, owned by Kroger, will shutter 5 locations across these states this summer.
Harris Teeter, which Kroger owns, will shutter at least five stores across three states this summer. Kroger merged with Harris Teeter, acquiring the business for $2.4 billion in 2014. Over the next 18 months, Kroger will close around 60 stores, separate from the Harris Teeter locations affected.

Which Harris Teeter locations will be closed?
Five Harris Teeter locations across Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia will be closed before August 4, 2025:
Maryland
- 11845 Old Georgetown Rd. Rockville, Maryland, 20852 - closing by July 20
North Carolina
- 5563 Western Blvd, Raleigh, North Carolina, 27606 - closing by July 20
Virginia
- 8200 Crestwood Heights Dr. McLean, Virginia, 22102 - closing by July 20
- 950 S. George Mason Dr. Arlington, Virginia, 22204 - closing by July 20
- 3600 S. Glebe Rd., Suite W100 Arlington, Virginia, 22202 - closing by Aug. 4

The company has said that the more than 100 employees impacted by the closures will be offered positions at other locations in the area. Harris Teeter reports a workforce of 35,000 employees and is based in Matthews, North Carolina. The news that these locations would be closed was reported by USAToday in late June. In a statement from the company, Harris Teeter said that locations had been chosen after “careful consideration and strategic market review.”
