If you’re a frequent Home Depot customer, you should know that the company announced last Tuesday it may raise prices in response to new tariffs. Chief Financial Officer Richard McPhail confirmed that the retailer will have to adjust pricing due to import duties imposed by the Trump administration.

“For some imported products, tariffs are significantly higher today than they were at the same time last quarter. So, as expected, there will be some slight price fluctuation in certain categories, but it won’t be across the board,” McPhail explained in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

The home improvement giant, one of the most recognized retailers in the United States, revealed that nearly half of its inventory comes from overseas suppliers. The company had previously stated its goal of diversifying its supply chain so that no single foreign country accounts for more than 10% of its products.

How Home Depot ultimately navigates this challenge remains to be seen, but what’s certain is that prices on many products will rise. The company aims to stay competitive while avoiding financial losses that could force more drastic measures.
