How can I unlock the BTS Purple Balloons on Google?

Google and BTS have teamed up to celebrate the ninth anniversary of the creation of the K-pop’s fandom group ARMY with fun online interactive tools.

Nine years ago, BTS launched its fandom club ARMY, or “Adorable Representative MC for Youth.” To celebrate this year the superstar septet K-pop band teamed up with Google to provide fans with some fun.

On 9 July, ARMY Day, anyone can join in the celebration by using Google to search “BTS” on any device to unlock a special purple heart icon. You can also check out each one’s favorite works of art displayed around cities that hold special memories for each band member.

The members of BTS recorded special messages for the ninth anniversary that their devoted fanbase can access by unlocking the purple heart icon. Simple search “BTS” in google and then click on the purple heart icon on your screen.

This will release a stream of purple balloons that you can tap or click on to pop. Burst the balloons that contain a microphone and you can listen to a special message from the various members.

Create your own gallery with BTS x Street Galleries

It’s well-known that some of the members of BTS find inspiration from art and are known aficionados. In order to share their tastes in artwork, Google Arts & Culture launched BTS x Street Galleries. Each member has curated a virtual gallery as part of a Street View tour of the cities and buildings that hold special memories for BTS.

The works of art are placed on buildings and structures around the 360º view of specific locations. RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, V, Jimin and Jung Kook each share why the location is special to them along with a why the work of art has meaning to them.

Fans can create their own gallery from an extended list of cities with art curated by the band along as well as exclusive photographs and creations which they produced. The BTS x Street Galleries provides a tutorial so that your work of art will look its best.

The “ARMY Tribute Video” will be released in the coming days

It’s not just the BTS ARMY that is devoted to the band but the band is devoted to its fandom. The band released their latest album 10 June, an anthology called PROOF. At the same time BTS premiered a music video for the title track, Yet to Come (The Most Beautiful Moment), which was a walk down memory lane.

To share the experience with their fans, BTS asked them to post shorts on YouTube to go along with the song using the #MyBTStory hashtag. They’ve now released a teaser video announcing that the “ARMY Tribute Video” will launch 13 July.
