As the Democratic National Convention (DNC) unfolds in Chicago, it draws an easy comparison with the recent Republican National Convention (RNC) that concluded in Milwaukee.

The RNC, which took place last month, had 50,000 attendees, according to the Milwaukee 2024 Host Committee. This figure included 2,429 delegates from all states and territories, that eventually nominated former President Donald Trump, who was officially nominated as the GOP candidate alongside his running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance.

The RNC in Milwaukee was a pivotal event for the Republican Party, especially as it followed an assassination attempt on Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Despite this, Trump decided to proceed with the convention. The convention served as a platform for the GOP to present a united front, contrasting with the divisions within the Democratic Party over President Joe Biden’s candidacy that eventually resulted in Biden ending his run in 2024.

Similarly, the DNC is expected to draw a significant crowd, with estimates suggesting that around 50,000 attendees will converge on the city. This number encompasses a diverse group of participants, including delegates, party officials, media representatives, and enthusiastic supporters.

Among the expected attendees, over 5,000 delegates will represent the party from across the country.

In addition to the delegates, the DNC will rely on approximately 12,000 volunteers to help facilitate the event.
