How old is Tim Walz? How does he compare to Harris, Trump and Vance?

After weeks of speculation, we now know the identity of the person that will complete the Democratic ticket for November’s presidential election. Kamala Harris has chosen Timothy James Walz, better known as simply Tim Walz, to be her running mate. And as soon as the confirmation arrived, images and videos spread like political wildfire about the current governor of Minnesota, a role he’s had since 2019.

Democrats immediately highlighted all they felt were the right reasons for the pick, things like signing into law a guaranteed free breakfast and lunch for all Minnesota students. Republicans pointed to some rioting in the city he represents. But another questions that seemed to cross the political divide was his age.

Given that for months, or should I say years, the prospect of Donald Trump and Joe Biden leading their respective parties ensured that age was a key topic of discussion, it’s maybe no surprise. So how does Walz compare on that measure to the other three involved in the race for the White House?

Harris was born on October 20, 1964, and the 59-year-old’s VP choice, Walz is 60, born on April 6, 1964, making him just six months older. JD Vance is the youngest of the four, having just turned 40 on August 2. Donald Trump, of course, is very much the more senior, already 78 years old.
