How old will Joe Biden and Donald Trump be in the 2024 elections?
Donald Trump and Joe Biden will face off in a debate tonight on CNN. Their age will likely be a topic of discussion. How old will they be on Election Day?
The two presumptive President of the United States nominees, Joe Biden and Donald Trump will face off in a debate hosted by CNN on Thursday, 27 June. For most voters, this is the rematch no one wanted or asked for. A sizable portion of the electorate tolerated their presence on their respective tickets in 2020, and having no other choice again has rubbed many the wrong way.
For supporters, this debate has sparked concerns over how the candidates will be received by the public. Both have moments where mental acuity is called into question, and many did not enjoy seeing them bicker and talk over one another during the debates of the last election cycle. Now, nearly four years later and four years older, the two men will “talk about the issues.”
Regardless of how they perform, it is difficult to imagine a situation where the party usurps them. This means that when the election results are announced, Trump will be a year older than he is now, while Biden will turn a year older shortly after the ballots are cast. Both candidates will be around 80 years old, with Biden being above that threshold.
On election day, their combined ages will be 159 years. The candidates’ ages are often the subject of jokes and memes, but for many political scientists, they are a genuine cause for concern. The mental state of the two leaders is under scrutiny, and some of their negative behaviors are attributed to their advanced age.

The age of the candidates
The Republican candidate was born on June 14, 1946, which means that he will be 78 years old in November. If he is re-elected as president of the United States, he would replace Biden as the oldest president to start a term in the White House. Trump would then be 82 by the time his term ends.
The Democratic candidate was born on November 20, 1942, which means that on the date of the elections, he will still be 81 years old. However, just two weeks later, he will turn 82, the highest age for a US president in office.
