This weekend, the Super Bowl is not the only thing to look forward to, if you’re a burger lover, that is.

Wendy’s is celebrating the 40th anniversary of its emblematic “Where’s the beef?” advertising campaign, which debuted with a TV commercial at the 1984 Super Bowl. To mark the occasion, the fast food chain is giving away a free Dave’s Single cheeseburger, and customers can access the deal on the Wendy’s app.

Eligibility for the offer does not specify a minimum purchase order, but diners can only avail of one offer per visit, and one free burger per order.

What is in a Dave’s Single burger?

A Dave’s Single is made up of “a quarter pound of fresh beef, American cheese, crisp lettuce, tomato, pickle, Heinz ketchup, Heinz mayo, and onion on a toasted bun just the way Dave intended,” according to the Wendy’s website.

The sandwich is named after Dave Thomas, the founder and chief executive officer of the restaurant chain.

No delivery fee on Super Bowl Sunday

If you decide to take advantage of the offer on Super Bowl Sunday this Sunday, Feb. 11, delivery will be free. But the free burger will not be available if you use third-party delivery platforms. The deal runs through Monday, Feb. 12.

Wendy’s has also partnered with apparel company Homage to offer vintage t-shirts with six different Wendy’s designs, including the “Where’s the Beef?” slogan.

The 1984 advertising campaign was so successful that “Where’s the beef?” became a popular catchphrase. Wendy’s extended the marketing promotion by commissioning songwriter and disc jockey Coyote McCloud to compose a song with the slogan as its title. The composition had a limited release on vinyl.
