In this way, the agency could grant them a six-month extension, moving the last day to file to October 15. However, the deadline to request the extension also expired on April 15.

How to track the status of your refund
According to official information from the IRS, once your tax return has been processed, the government agency takes approximately 21 days to issue the refund payment, as long as you completed the procedure electronically and are waiting for payment via direct deposit.
People who made their declaration in the traditional hard-copy way and requested to receive the refund through a paper check via postal mail, will have to wait a little longer. For them, the period extends to six to 12 weeks.
