Is ChatGPT down today? What happened and when will it be back?

ChatGPT users in the US and elsewhere might find issues connecting to the program this afternoon after outages began to be reported around an hour ago on Down Detector, a site that crowdsources reports on connectivity issues.

Some users will see this error message: “Too many concurrent requests.” Others “Increased errors.”

There is no current timeline for when the AI will be back online. Open AI, the organization that owns ChatGPT, have not yet posted an update but users have been highlighting the issue.

No details on what is causing the outage have been reported by Open AI.

Note: after a couple of hours, it appears the problem has since been resolved.
