Is the stock market open today? This is the time it opens
Here’s everything you need to know about the stock market during holiday season.
The past year has been a sensational time for investors, who have likely seen their figures rise in a solid year on the stock market. In the US market, we saw the S&P 500 to record highs as Apple, Bitcoin and gold all shot through the roof.
The stock market does not stop during the holiday season, with plenty of punters looking to buy and sell over the festive period with prices going through what is known as the 'Santa Claus rally'.
Jolly attitudes to trading are reflected in the rates which fluctuate as you eat your vegetables with the market remaining open on Christmas eve. However, despite the festive fun, the stock market does indeed close on Christmas Day, with normal hours resuming on Boxing Day: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The US markets will remain open until New Year’s Day, when they will close again for the day.
However, this is not the same around the world, as in Europe, markets in Germany, France, London, Spain and Switzerland are among those that are closed for the Boxing Day holiday.
As for the Asia-Pacific region, stock markets in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong are closed for the Boxing Day holiday.
