On Monday, news broke that Tucker Carlson had left Fox News. One of the many questions that it sparked surrounded what his next move would be, with some pointing to a continued career in the sphere of right wing politics and communications. Well, going further than that was Vivek Ramaswamy, a GOP presidential hopeful, who immediately suggested that Carlson should consider joining the Republican primary race.

Could we see a President Carlson?

OK. So it’s a little early to be grappling with the idea that Carlson could rise to the top of the Great Old Party, never mind be elected to the most powerful position in the world, but we thought that about someone else a few years ago... and look where that got us. But speaking with Politico, Ramaswamy explained that he thought the controversial host was one of the smart guys.

“I think he’d be a good addition to the race,” he said. “I think someone should only do this if they feel called to do it, but I think it’d be good for the country if he got in, to be honest with you.

“There’s definitely a thought leadership vacuum in political media, across the political spectrum. And Tucker was one of the great political thinkers and commentators of our time,” Ramaswamy continued, calling him “one of the smartest voices in the conservative movement.”

Whether or not Tucker looks to do actual politicking rather than just sharing his divisive views on the topic with the millions that tune in, only time will tell. But he’s certainly got a ‘friend’ who can give him some pointers, if required, although maybe not if it threatens his own run.

What did Donald Trump say about Tucker Carlson’s Fox exit?

Former US president and front runner for the Republican party ahead of the 2024 election, Donald Trump, had a strong ally in Carlson during his previous campaigns for the Oval Office, shown no better as he continued to trumpet the lies about voting irregularities involving Dominion machines, despite privately admitting that it was untrue.

Well, we didn’t have to wait long to hear what Trump thought about the unexpected decision from Fox to oust their top man. Speaking on Monday night with Fox’s rival station Newsmax, Tucker’s importance personally was highlighted.

“I was shocked. I’m surprised. He’s a very good person a very good man and very talented and he had very high ratings. He’s been terrific especially over the last year or so he’s been terrific to me.

Trump also gave his thoughts on the $787 million settlement that Fox made with Dominion Voting Systems, linking the Carlson situation.

“I was surprised they made a settlement in that case. I thought that was a case that should easily be won … again the Tucker situation you don’t know if it was a firing, maybe he left because he wasn’t being given his free rein, he wants his free rein maybe but I was surprised by it.”
