John Beasley, an Omaha native, passed away in his hometown on 30 May at the age of seventy-nine.

The actor was beloved for the characters he brought to life, most notably Coach Warren in the 1993 film ‘Rudy’ and Irv Harper in the television series ‘Everwood.’ Off the set, Beasley was deeply devoted to his family and is survived by his wife, Judy, his two sons, Mike and Tyrone, and his five grandchildren.

No cause of death has been made known to the public, but the family has said that Beasley passed away in an Omaha hospital. However, it is clear that his death is premature, given that Beasley had confirmed he would attend a Broadway workshop in August.

Beasley’s lifelong love of theater

The actor told the American Theatre that getting to perform on Broadway would be an amazing opportunity but that even if he never made it to that stage, he was pleased with the success of his career. The theater had always been one of Beasley’s greatest passions, with the actor establishing e “John Beasley Theater & Workshop” in Omaha in 2002.
