Karol G Makes History: Reaching number 1 on the Billboard 200 list with her album ‘Mañana Será Bonito’
“Mañana Será Bonito” by Karol G is number 1 on the Billboard 200 list, making her the first Latina to top the important list.
Since its release, Karol G’s new album “Mañana Será Bonito” has become a commercial success, significantly impacting her fans and the music industry more broadly. Not only did the album debut at number one on the Billboard 200, but such an event makes her the first Latina artist to do so. The first album by a Latina to reach the number one position after its release was Selena’s “Dreaming of You” which came out in 1995 after she was killed.
As announced by Billboard, “Mañana Será Bonito” sold 94,000 units in the United States as of the end of last week. It is important to mention that the Billboard 200 list classifies the most famous albums of the week in the North American country, taking into account multimetric consumption measured in equivalent album units. Such units include Track Equivalent Albums, where 1,500 steams equals one album sold and one album sold equals ten downloads, or 1,500 steams. Billboard also looks at advertising, radio plays, and other forms of audio and video transmissions.

The new album generated a total of 118.73 million official streams, the best showing for a record by a Latina artist.
“I have to say that if I am number two it would still be impressive, I feel happy, grateful, I feel like a retrochimba. It’s much more than I ever dreamed of,” the artists said a few days ago when she released the news through her Instagram stories.
