Leading linguist reveals language that will overtake English in the United States by 2050
A prominent linguist predicts the language will surpass English as the dominant tongue in the United States by the year 2050.

Did you know that Spanish is already the second most commonly spoken native language in the world after Mandarin Chinese? It doesn’t stop there; some believe that one major power will eventually see this language replace English, which is currently the dominant tongue. The news of these predictions comes courtesy of the Huffington Post, with helpful reporting by Express and La Razón.
According to world-renowned linguist Humberto López Morales, who served as the secretary general of the Association of Academies of the Spanish Language, Spanish will replace English as the most spoken language in the United States in the coming decades.

When could Spanish surpass English?
According to López Morales, the timeframe in which the US is expected to embrace Spanish as the majority language is around 2050. In other words, within the next 25 years.
