Riverdale’s Ryan Grantham sentenced to life in prison for killing his mom

Ryan Grantham shot his mother, Barbare Waite, to death and has been convicted after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.

Ryan Grantham, part of the cast of the hit series ‘Riverdale,’ has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to killing his mother in 2020. At 24 years old, he received the verdict in the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Vancouver more than six months after admitting his guilt for the events that took place in March 2020. Grantham committed the murder with a gun, shooting his mother, Barbara Waite, 64, in the neck while she was playing the piano.

Judge Kathleen Ker referred to the event as “tragic and heartbreaking” because, as detailed by the prosecutors, Grantham recorded a video in the moments after the crime confessing what he had just done. Later, according to the prisoner’s statement to the authorities, he bought beer and marijuana, experimented with making Molotov cocktails, and watched Netflix before covering his mother’s body with a sheet and lying down to sleep.

When speaking with the authorities, Grantham said that in the months prior to his mother’s murder, he had entered a very difficult stage in his life. Grantham filled his days smoking weed and surfing the deep web watching violent videos, which would have provoked suicidal thoughts and homicidal ideas. During the trial, Grantham reprinted and apologized in court for his actions in court in June, going on to take responsibility for his actions and defending that his mother did not deserve that ending. His words did not protect him from a harsh sentence. The court has sentenced him to life in prison, and there will be no chance of parole for at least fourteen years.

He had a plan to kill Justin Trudeau

One day after killing his mother, Grantham created an altar of sorts on his mother’s piano by placing a rosary and lighted candles next to her body. Afterward, he loaded his car with three pistols, ammunition, more than a dozen Molotov cocktails, and various camping gear, and he headed for Rideau Cottage in Ottawa, the residence of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is located.

As he confessed later, he had a plan to kill him, but after driving for several hours, he decided to turn around with the idea of carrying out a mass shooting on the Lions Gate Bridge or at the University Simon Fraser, where he studied. Luckily he eventually drove to the Vancouver Police Department and turned himself in with a confession: “I killed my mother.
