Update:

Thanksgiving dinner is famously stressful – and expensive. Between a 14-pound turkey, vegetables, dessert, and all the trimmings, costs can soar before the first guest arrives. But this year, two budget grocers are turning tradition on its head with full spreads for under $40.

What’s included in Aldi’s $40 Thanksgiving special?

Aldi is once again promising that hosts can “feed 10 for just $40.” The chain’s seasonal bundle covers every holiday essential, from turkey and stuffing to pie and whipped topping – a total of 21 items if you follow the suggested list.

The package features a whole turkey, green beans, onions, potatoes, sweet rolls, cranberry sauce, mac and cheese, and the makings of pumpkin pie. All items are bought separately, but when combined, the total hovers around $40 – an impressive feat given grocery prices this year.

There’s a catch, though: some shoppers have noted regional differences, especially if the featured turkey sells out or certain sides aren’t in stock. Still, Aldi’s no-card-needed model and simple pricing make it one of the most straightforward options for a home-cooked, crowd-pleasing meal.

What’s included in Lidl’s $36 Thanksgiving special?

Not to be outdone, Lidl is offering its own Thanksgiving bundle for about $36, working out at just $3.60 per person for a gathering of 10. The offer runs through November 26 and includes a similar lineup – turkey, rolls, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, vegetables, and pumpkin pie ingredients – all sourced from the store’s private-label range.

Lidl’s biggest draw is its turkey discount: shoppers using the Lidl app can snag a frozen bird for just $0.25 per pound. Like Aldi, each item is sold individually, allowing customers to tweak the menu or add extras. Taxes and availability vary by location, so the real total may edge slightly higher.

So, if you were worried about feeding the gang when Thanksgiving arrives, fear not. Just get yourself down to a local store...
