For fans of The Hunger Games, another prequel to the original trilogy is on the way—this time following the 50th Hunger Games, in which Haymitch Abernathy, who later becomes the mentor to Peeta and Katniss, emerges as the victor. In Sunrise on the Reaping, released on March 18, Suzanne Collins continues to expand her richly detailed universe, crafting a world that feels unsettlingly familiar to our own.
Earlier this month, author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, whose novel Americanah received the National Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction, released her latest book, Dream Count, published by Knopf. The story follows three affluent Nigerian women—Chiamaka, a writer; Zikora, a lawyer; and Omelogor, a financial executive—as they navigate dating and their diasporic identity in their mid-thirties.
For fans of political fiction, Laila Lalami’s The Dream Hotel, also released in early March, presents a dystopian future where mass surveillance extends beyond the waking world. The novel follows a protagonist accused of a crime she insists she didn’t commit in a world where the government can monitor people not only at home and work but also in their dreams—granting the state access to the deepest corners of the subconscious.

On the nonfiction front, bestselling author John Green has released Everything Is Tuberculosis: The History and Persistence of Our Deadliest Infection. April 2025 Release Radar
Emily Henry has been a leading voice in the romance genre since the release of Book Lovers. On April 22, she will release Great Big Beautiful Life, her latest novel, which, like Book Lovers, follows two writers who are competing to write the biography of a wealthy socialite quietly living out the final years of her life on a secluded island.
Earlier in the month, on April 8, author Katie Kitamura will release her fifth novel, Audition, published by Fern Press. This novel takes a different direction from her 2021 work, Intimacies, which followed a translator working for the International Criminal Court as it prosecuted war criminals. Audition, set in New York City, follows an actress who meets a young man over lunch, who though young enough to be her son, is doubtful, right? As their relationship unfolds, Kitamura explores themes of family, ambition, artistic inspiration, and the pursuit of success.
The Guilt Pill by Saumya Dave is a feminist thriller that challenges societal expectations of working mothers in a future where a drug designed to erase guilt is being tested. When an early user becomes addicted and mysteriously disappears, Dave delves into themes of gender, class, race, and motherhood, weaving a gripping narrative that questions the consequences of a world where guilt can be erased.
For fans of historical fiction, Zeal by Morgan Jerkins will be released on April 22. The novel spans generations, tracing the legacy of slavery and the Black experience in America. Jerkins presents emancipation as “a single glorious moment,” yet her characters in the present day grapple with the more complex reality of what it truly means to become—and remain—free.
