Over the past couple months, not only the weather has been heating up but also the fast food wars. Last week, both Burger King and Starbucks announced new special deals for customers to take advantage of this summer. Coinciding with the summer solstice, the celestial start to summer, McDonald’s announced their own anticipated deals.

“We heard our fans loud and clear – they’re looking for even more great value from us, and this summer that’s exactly what they’ll get,” Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA, said in a statement. “Value has always been part of our DNA. We’re focused on living up to that legacy and offering delicious, affordable options customers can enjoy any time they walk through our doors, go through our drive thru or place an order through our app.”

McDonald’s confirms the $5 Meal Deal: When does it start and what’s included?

The new summer $5 “Meal of the Season” on offer from McDonald’s will be available to customers at participating restaurants starting 25 June. The limited time deal will include a small soft drink, small fries, 4 piece Chicken McNuggets and your choice of either a McDouble or a McChicken sandwich.

But that isn’t the only deal the Chicago-based burger giant unveiled on Thursday. Through the end of 2024 every Friday nationwide will be ‘Free Fries Friday’ at the Golden Arches. With any minimum $1 purchase customers can get a free medium fry but this special is exclusively offered in the McDonald’s App.

Those who are signed up on the app can also get any size free fries, no purchase necessary, on Saturday 13 July in celebration of National French Fry Day. And there is still more…

Because McDonald’s franchisees are independent business owners who set their own pricing, some have chosen to offer customers specials specific to their restaurants. “As small business owners, it’s our responsibility to deliver great value to our local communities when they need it most,” said John Palmaccio, McDonald’s Owner/Operator and Operator’s National Advertising (OPNAD) Fund Chair.

Some of the deals highlighted in the McDonald’s press release are Buy One Get One for $1 breakfast sandwiches in Memphis, Tennessee. Or there’s the Double Cheeseburger & small fries pairing for $3.50 in Columbus, Ohio. Palmaccio said that in addition to the $5 Meal Deal, at his restaurants in Savannah, Georgia customers can get 25 percent off any purchase of $10 or more.
