McDonald’s is dropping prices on select meals this September: Here’s what’s getting cheaper
McDonald’s is bringing back the Extra Value Meal as the fast food giant attempts to lure customers back.
The Golden Arches will be offering discounts on some classic menu items beginning later this month.
On September 8, McDonald’s will bring back its Extra Value Meal menu as the chain works to entice customers back. As households look to save amid growing economic uncertainty, McDonald’s executives have voiced concern over a noticeable drop in visits—especially among low-income customers.
During the company’s earnings call in early August, where McDonald’s reported a 2.5% increase in U.S. sales but noted declining foot traffic, CEO Christopher Kempczinski emphasized the importance of reconnecting with budget-conscious diners. “Low-income consumers typically visit our restaurants more frequently than middle- and high-income consumers,” he said, adding that economic pressures are causing many to skip meals or eat at home instead
What items will make up the Extra Value menu?
The revived Extra Value menu will consist of 8 items:
- Sausage McMuffin with Egg
- Sausage Egg & Cheese McGriddles®
- Egg McMuffin®
- Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit®
- Big Mac
- 10-piece Chicken McNuggets®
- Any variety Quarter Pounder® burger (Original, Bacon, or Deluxe)
- Any variety McCrispy® Sandwich (Original, Deluxe, or Spicy Deluxe).
You can view the complete menu and prices on McDonald’s official website. Notable offerings include the $5 Sausage McMuffin with Egg meal and the $8 Big Mac meal, which also includes a medium drink and fries. The announcement about the menu change said that the additions would be temporary but did not indicate how long the offers would be available.
