Body camera footage has been released by the Metro Nashville Police Department of the officers who caught the mass shooter at Covenant School. The footage may be disturbing ad viewer discretion is advised.

Bodycam footage shows moment shooter was caught

The shooter killed three children and three adults before being caught by police officers. In the bodycam footage, released on Tuesday, you can see the officers going inside the school and searching the building. They walk through the halls lined with children’s drawings with their weapons drawn.

The sound of gunshots can be heard as the officers run up a stairwell towards the sounds. They confront the shooter, who’s standing in front of a large window, and proceed to shoot until the suspect goes down to the ground.

It was later revealed that the shooter is Audrey Hale, a 28-year-old transgender man, who legally purchased seven guns. Hale’s parents were not aware of the guns in their house, and Tennessee does not have laws which allow police to seize guns, even if the suspect is violent. Hale died about 15 minutes after being shot by police. Hale came to the school armed with three guns, including a semi-automatic rifle.

The children who were killed in the attack were nine-year-olds Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney. Three employees of the school were killed as well: 61-year-old Cynthia Peak, 60-year-old Katherine Koonce, and 61-year-old Mike Hill.
