Neither in Spain nor in France, this is the most beautiful restaurant in the world that still doesn’t have a Michelin star
With a respected global award in which culinary and architectural art play a huge role.
When we think of top-tier cuisine, many countries come to mind, several of them in Europe. From Spain to France, Greece and, of course, Italy – a place where food is extraordinary and artistic expression runs just as deep.
It’s no surprise then that one of its restaurants has just received the Prix Versailles 2025, a prestigious architectural award backed by UNESCO and the United Nations that each year honors the world’s most beautiful dining spaces. The most celebrated this year is in Italy – and, interestingly, it has no Michelin star.
One of the most beautiful restaurants in the world
The restaurant is called Coro and it’s located in Orvieto, in the province of Terni in the central Italian region of Umbria. It’s both an architectural and culinary jewel, set inside a deconsecrated 16th-century church that preserves the building’s historic identity.
It offers a unique experience – dining beneath soaring stone ceilings and centuries-old vaulted arches, contrasted by displays of contemporary art. The menu features meat, fish and locally sourced produce, with the option to order à la carte or try one of the three tasting menus, priced from about $84 to $130. It seems only a matter of time before Coro earns its first Michelin star.
