Tudum continues its slew of Netflix first looks and trailer drops with the background story for its smash series Bridgerton, named Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.

It features India Amarteifio as the eponymous Queen Charlotte and Corey Mylchreest as King George III. The clip is an exchange in palace gardens in which Charlotte in caught by Charles as she attempts to climb a wall.

As George refuses to help her Charlotte climb the wall, she accuses him of not helping “a lady in distress.” George retorts, “I refuse when that lady in distress is trying to go over a wall so she does not have to marry me.”

Amarteifio featured on the stage discussing the prequel series alongside Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury in ‘Bridgerton,’ and Golda Rosheuvel, who portrays the older Queen Charlotte.

Rosheuvel celebrated Amarteifio in a YouTube clip, saying, “We have this wonderful kind of tag team where we high-five each other. Do you know what I mean? And the baton is passed on, which I think is a real beautiful metaphor for the older and newer.”

Bridgerton, the historical romance series with a modern twist was first released in December 2020 and was seen by 41 percent of all Netflix subscribers by the end of 2021. The series, based on the book series by Julia Quinn, peaked at Number 1 on Netflix in 83 countries and made it onto the top ten list in all countries with Netflix except Japan.
