North Korea warns of ‘Golden Dome’ and possible nuclear space conflict with U.S.
The North Koreans are unhappy with Trump’s ‘Golden Dome’ plans, with state media labelling it a “threatening” move.
North Korea have done some more blasting, but this time it’s verbal. They’ve gone on the offensive about Donald Trump’s plan to create what he called a ‘Golden Dome’ defence, a constellation of satellites and space-based weapons that would be used to intercept attacks on the United States.
In typical Trumpian lingo, he rushed to call it “the best system ever built”, adding that “once fully constructed, the Golden Dome will be capable of intercepting missiles even if they are launched from other sides of the world and even if they are launched from space.”
State media from the hermit country reported that Pyongyang’s foreign ministry had slammed the plan, which Trump says will cost $175 billion, as “the height of self-righteousness [and] arrogance."
“Clear is the aim sought by the U.S. in its persistent attempt to build an integrated missile defence system with Japan” the report added.
Trump’s plan ‘undermines global strategic balance and stability’
And it was not just Kim and his regime who criticised Trump’s plan. China have also had their say, admitting feeling of being “seriously concerned” about the Golden Dome and its “strong offensive implications” that come with the development of such a plan.
“The United States, in pursuing a ‘US-first’ policy, is obsessed with seeking absolute security for itself. This violates the principle that the security of all countries should not be compromised and undermines global strategic balance and stability”, China’s foreign ministry said.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson also said that the project “heightens the risk of space becoming a battlefield, fuels an arms race and undermines international security”, adding that China “urges the United States to abandon the development and deployment of a global missile defence system as soon as possible.”

For their part, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova echoed China’s message on Tuesday, saying that the United States’ Golden Dome project undermines the foundations of strategic stability as it involves the creation of a global missile defence system.
