Not only Venezuela and Greenland: These are the four other countries Trump has threatened to attack in 2026
Trump’s latest comments point to four more nations that could face U.S. pressure following the dramatic Venezuela operation.

President Donald Trump has started 2026 in particularly audacious fashion, even by his standards, announcing that the United States will be “running” Venezuela for the time being after capturing Nicolás Maduro and his wife, who are now facing drug trafficking charges in New York. Now, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico and Iran have been issued warnings.
U.S. airstrikes follow Maduro capture
The Venezuela operation, which saw the U.S. extract Maduro from the South American country, included airstrikes on targets around the capital city of Caracas. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday, Trump insisted more attacks would occur if Venezuela “doesn’t behave.”
However, Venezuela is not the only country Trump has set his sights on. The president, who still hopes to buy Greenland from Denmark, revealed over the weekend that several other nations could soon find themselves under Washington’s scrutiny.
Trump turns attention to Cuba
The American president used almost the exact same words to speak about Cuba as those he had deployed in a lengthy speech discussing Venezuela hours after Maduro’s capture had been confirmed.
“I think Cuba is going to be something we’ll end up talking about, because Cuba is a failing nation right now,” Trump claimed. “We want to help the people. It’s very similar in the sense that we want to help the people in Cuba, but we want to also help the people that were forced out of Cuba and living in this country.”
“Cuba is ready to fall, it looks like it’s ready to fall,” he continued. “Cuba now has no income. They get all of their income from Venezuelan oil, and they are not going to get anything now.”
Does that mean Cuba could soon get the Venezuela treatment?
Colombia comments raise eyebrows
Trump had even more menacing words for Colombia and its president, Gustavo Petro, who he brought into the conversation without being asked.
“Venezuela is very sick. Colombia is very sick too,” he stated. “It is run by a sick man who likes making cocaine and selling it to the United States. And he is not going to be doing it very long, let me tell you that. He has cocaine mills and cocaine factories. He’s not going to be doing it very long.”
When asked whether that meant the U.S. would be carrying out a military operation in Colombia, Trump simply responded, “That sounds good to me.”
Mexico and cartels in Trump’s sights
Mexico was next in the firing line. While he described President Claudia Sheinbaum as a “terrific person,” Trump claimed she was “frightened” of Mexican drug cartels, who were “running the country.”

“We have to do something with Mexico,” Trump said ominously. “Mexico has to get its act together against drug trafficking. Every time I speak to Sheinbaum, I offer to send troops.”
Warning issued to Iran
Trump also looked beyond the Americas for one final target, for now. The Republican was quizzed on whether the U.S. would intervene if more peaceful protesters in Iran, demonstrating against the country’s economy, were killed by the country’s armed forces. Prior to the weekend, at least eight people were reported to have died during the week-long protests.
“We’ll take a look, we’re watching them very closely. If they start killing people like they have in the past, I think they’re going to get hit very hard by the United States.”
