Not the best frosting ever, but people online are obsessed with this birthday cake: “I’m sorry, I did my best”
A Giant Eagle baker’s quirky cake lettering went viral on TikTok, making millions laugh after a simple birthday order took a hilarious turn.
An amateur baker at a Giant Eagle had his work go viral after attempting to fulfill a customer’s cake order that was just a bit off. When the customer went to pick up the cake, the baker was afraid to hand over his creation, and before she could catch a peek, said, “I’m sorry, I did my best.”
The story was shared on TikTok by @k_bug68, who had ordered a cake from the grocery store for a co-worker named Steve. The request was simple: the cake should read, “Happy Birthday Steve.”
The young man managed to complete the order, but his unique writing style made millions laugh after the story went viral.
Ironically, the box, which we see at the beginning of the video, is a standard Giant Eagle-branded container, written on the top: “Best Cake in Town.” One can only hope that the handwriting was not a reflection of the flavor.
The cake cost @k_bug68 $30, and although she said in the caption that Giant Egal “could have them practice on things that are not cakes,” she knew her colleagues would get a kick out of the disastrous look of the dessert. The original video has been seen close to 14 million times since it was posted in mid-August.
