Nurses encourage parents to buy a red towel for squeamish children

For most mothers and fathers, part of their kids’ childhood will involve cleaning up after cuts or nosebleeds.

Update:

A team of pediatric nurses is behind the Instagram account CPR Kids, where they share healthcare advice with a particular focus on their area of expertise — the youngest members of the family.

Their latest tip involves adding a small red towel to your home first aid kit. The reason? It helps mask the sight of blood better than a white towel, where it stands out more clearly.

The reason to choose red over white towels

“If you or your little one don’t like the sight of blood, or if your child completely panics at even a drop, these towels are a must-have,” they wrote in the caption accompanying their latest video.

According to the nurses who run the account, using red towels “can help reduce the fear and anxiety some children (and adults) experience when they see blood, making it easier to handle nosebleeds or cuts.”

“If your child has frequent nosebleeds and can’t bear the sight of blood, stock up on a few!” they concluded.
