Olive Garden will finally provide third-party delivery service for customers’ individual orders after years of resisting offering the amenity in the past. The restaurant’s chicken parmigiana, shrimp Alfredo, and its famous breadsticks can soon be enjoyed by diners in the comfort of their own home.

Darden Restaurants, the company that owns Olive Garden, announced it was tying up with Uber so its diners can have their orders picked up and delivered to their doorstep. Darden and Uber have signed an exclusive multi-year delivery contract that will take effect in late 2024.

“Guests have been asking us for home delivery options and they continue to show they are willing to pay for the convenience,” according to Darden President and CEO Rick Cardenas.

“As we continued to evaluate delivery, it was important for us to find a way to address this guest need state without disrupting the team member or guest experience,” he added.

The restaurant will not be listed on the Uber Eats platform. Customers can only place their orders on Uber Direct, a premium delivery service.

Darden, which also owns Longhorn Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, among other chains, says Olive Garden will be the first of their restaurants to offer this service, set to begin later this year.

When the system is implemented, customers will have the option to order food for delivery through Olive Garden’s website and app at more than 900 company-owned branches throughout the country.

The company adds if the pilot is successful, they will roll out the service to all branches of the Italian-American restaurant across the United States by May 2025.
