How severe is the recall?

Unless you typically buy your ice cream in three-gallon containers, you likely did not pick up one of the recalled products at the grocery store. Nevertheless, for businesses in the hospitality sector, the 22-flavor list should be examined to ensure that none of the items purchased fall under the Class II recall.

There are three classes of recalls, with I being the least severe and III being the most severe.

According to the FDA, a class II recall is issued when “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.” The presence of plastic within the flavors reached this level, meaning potential buyers should proceed with extreme caution.
