A new month is upon us and that means for all recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as SNAP the arrival of new payments.

Through this financial assistance program, the federal government issues what are also known as ‘food stamps’ to low-income families in the United States. Recipients receive the monthly payments on an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.

The exact amount you receive depends on the number of members in a family, minus the household’s expected contribution of 30 percent of its net income. The average payment for families of one is $195 and as more members are added, the monthly amount grows.
