Republican Liz Cheney set to lose Wyoming seat
The Congresswoman conceded defeat in her primary challenge late Tuesday night as the Trumpian wing of the GOP takes another scalp of their opponents.
Liz Cheney, long serving Republican Representative and daughter of GOP titan Dick Cheney, will no longer be representing her congressional district in Wyoming after the midterm elections. She has conceded to opponent Harriet Hageman, a Trumpian acolyte .After becoming an outspoken opponent against former president Donald Trump, Cheney has become increasingly isolated in the GOP.
Her position on the Senate Committee investigating the January 6 riot as a Republican was seen as a betrayal by many in her party, making her the main target for Trump-supporters and a priority to be kicked out of the party structures. Of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump in the wake of the January 6 riots, only two are seeking reelection.

Her defeat was widely expected. It is a propaganda coup for the Trumpian wing of the Republican party as the former president is mulling over a reelection charge come 2024.
How did Liz Cheney characterise her defeat?
Speaking after the polls closed, Cheney said she could have “easily” won the primary vote again, if she chose to support the former president.

" I have no regrets,” Cheney told CBS News. “I feel very proud about all the work that I’ve done together with people of Wyoming over the last six years and really understand and recognize there’s nothing more important than the defense of our Constitution. And so I’m going to continue to work and ensure that we’re doing that in a way that is nonpartisan.”
