Revealed: the only person in the world who can make Trump do what they want, and it’s not Netanyahu
Author Michael Wolff spoke recently about the second Trump administration and the surreal situation in world politics.
Donald Trump’s rise to power in 2017 was the end of an extraordinary campaign that nobody thought would bring a reward. A TV star for over a decade, no real policy promises and child-like threatening behaviour, the real estate magnate left jaws on floors when the election results rolled in and the world slowly began to realise that he had done it: he had become the 45th President of the United States of America.
Leaving in a fireball of fury was, for some, always the only way out, and that certainly came to pass. A Trump-inspired insurrection on Capitol Hill by what can only be described as lawbreaking thugs saw the end of his first term in power. The country wanted stability, it wanted common sense, it wanted an adult in the room. Trump’s America was no more, and he was set for court trials.
Fast-forward to today. Against the odds, Trump - not in jail - reignited his electoral spirits and swept Biden/Harris aside in a hugely popular campaign that saw him elected as now the 47th President. And things have only gotten weirder.
He wants to take Greenland, ignore Ukraine, fight Denmark, annex Mexico and invite in Canada as State 51. And these are only the plans that have made the news.

‘I think she might enjoy being an existential threat’ to Trump
In his new book, ‘All or Nothing’, Michael Wolff examines the second rise to power of Trump in the US. The author recently spoke to ex-Press Secretary of Downing Street under former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, Alastair Campbell, along with former Conservative Government Minister Rory Stewart, where he revealed the one person who could take Trump down: Melania.
During his appearance on The Rest is Politics podcast with the aforementioned pair of former UK government workers, Wolff was asked to give a word or phrase to describe people close to Trump.
“Lackey” was used to describe JD Vance, while he said Steve Bannon was “cast out”. Jared Kushner was called “the survivor” and he called Donald Jr and Eric “poor, wretched souls”.
But when it came to Melania, the response was intriguing: “you know, she may be the only one who is truly a match for him. She holds the strings, she plays him, she gets what she wants. In a way, she is his weakest link. She could pull the rug from under him at any time.”
When pressed on the matter and asked what Melania’s aims are, Wolff simply replied “she is transactional.”
