The Nobel Laureate was known for his magnetic personality and witty lectures that made even the most complex aspects of physics accessible to all.

Richard Feynman, physicist, “Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn’t matter. Explore the world”

Update:

Richard Feynman was truly a unique personality with a brilliant mind. The theoretical physicist was renowned for his groundbreaking work on quantum electrodynamics which earned him a Nobel Prize in 1965. He is also credited with introducing the concepts of nanotechnology and quantum computing.

The scientist worked on the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos, New Mexico, where he famously would crack open his colleagues’ safes to expose flaws. Feynman was also called on to use his problem-solving skills to help figure out what caused the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, which he did with a simple demonstration involving a glass of cold water.

It was his ability to learn from first principles, by breaking things down to their basics and then rebuilding them from the ground up, that helped him see what caused that tragedy where others just couldn’t accept that to be the case. “What I cannot create, I do not understand,” Feynman once said.

The physicist used this ‘Feynman Technique’ to truly learn about what he taught in his lectures so that he was able to make even the most complex aspects of physics accessible to all in plain English. It also didn’t hurt that he was a “raconteur,” a natural storyteller.

Stay curious and keep exploring

The avid drummer encouraged endless curiosity and to be obsessive with one’s hobbies and passions. “Fall in love with some activity, and do it! Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn’t matter,” he famously said. “Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough.

Work as hard and as much as you want to on the things you like to do the best. Don’t think about what you want to be, but what you want to do,” Feynman added. “Keep up some kind of a minimum with other things so that society doesn’t stop you from doing anything at all.”
