Finally!

After six years away from music, Rihanna returns with the release of a new single: ‘Lift me up’, which will be part of the soundtrack of the next Marvel movie, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

Rihanna co-wrote the song with singer Teams, producer Ludwing Göransson and director Ryan Coogler. The song will pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman, who starred in the first film and died in 2020 after losing the fight against colon cancer.

“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the movie and song, I wanted to write something that portrayed a warm hug from all the people I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine how I would feel if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them,” read the press release put out by the writing team.

The soundtrack for ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ will be officially released until November 4th, however, Rihanna’s new single will be out on the daylight this Friday, 28 October.

The song is now available for pre-save on Spotify and Apple Music.

It’s worth mentioning that this is the first time since 2016 that Rihanna has released music as a lead artist, which was when she released her eighth studio album, which ran under the name ‘Anti.’

Although this release is a mere single, there are those who have begun to consider the possibility that the artist will release a new album in the coming months, especially after she was confirmed as the artist in charge of the Super Bowl LVII halftime show.
