Social Security payments: Check mailing date schedule in 2023

The Social Security Administration continues to issue checks to those receiving benefits. Here are the payment dates for the remaining months of the year.

Each month, the Social Security Administration (SSA) sends money to retired workers. The agency also sends payments monthly to recipients of Supplemental Security Income, as well as recipients of disability and survivor benefits.

The SSA has already sent out payments for the month of October. However, it is worth knowing the calendar and delivery dates of the benefits for the two remaining months of 2023.

According to SSA’s payment schedule, SSI benefits are generally sent on the first day of each month, unless the first day of the month falls on a holiday or a weekend. Many Catholic churches in the US celebrate All Saints’ Day on November 1, but it is not a public holiday; as such, businesses have normal operating hours on that day.

Since the first day of the month falls on a Wednesday, SSI beneficiaries should get their checks on November 1.

On the third day of every month, the SSA sends money to those who began receiving their Social Security payments before May 1997. If day three falls on a weekend, the payment is advanced to the previous Friday.

All other Social Security checks are sent based on the beneficiary's birthday:

  • Second Wednesday of the month: recipients with a date of birth between the 1st and 10th
  • Third Wednesday: beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th day
  • Fourth Wednesday: beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st
