Early next week, some benefits recipients in the U.S. are to get their monthly Social Security for August 2026.

Social Security is being paid out on Monday, August 3: who gets benefits?

In the United States, some Social Security recipients are due to get their latest monthly money at the beginning of next week, as the Social Security Administration (SSA) embarks on the program’s payment schedule for August.
On Monday, August 3, Social Security benefits are to be issued to two groups of recipients.
Who receives Social Security benefits on Monday, August 3?
- Certain long-term beneficiaries
August’s money is to be distributed to beneficiaries who started receiving their Social Security before May 1997.
- Dual recipients beneficiaries: Social Security + SSI
This coming Monday is also August’s Social Security payment date for beneficiaries who combine the program with Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
A benefit for low-income, low-resource individuals who are over the age of 65 or have a disability, SSI differs from Social Security as it is needs-based. Eligibility is not dependent on a claimant’s employment record.
August’s SSI benefits are to be sent out today, Friday, July 31. Worth a monthly average of $738.10, SSI is normally paid on the first day of each month, but is being distributed slightly ahead of schedule as August begins on a weekend day.
How much are Social Security payments?
- Retirement benefits: $2,029.92/month
- Disability benefits: $1,496.16/month
- Survivor benefits: $1,631.39/month
Average benefit, according to figures shared by the SSA.
When are other Social Security recipients paid in August 2026?
Of the 71.3 million Social Security beneficiaries in the U.S., many will receive their monthly payment on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in August, depending on their date of birth:
- Born on 1st to 10th of any month: paid on Wednesday, August 12
- Born on 11th to 20th of any month: paid on Wednesday, August 19
- Born on 21st to 31st of any month: paid on Wednesday, August 26
NB: If you receive Social Security based on someone else’s work history, the SSA uses the other person’s date of birth.
How does the Social Security Admin make benefits payments?
- Direct deposit
Social Security beneficiaries can supply their bank-account information using the SSA’s online “my Social Security” platform.
- Direct Express
Money can be loaded onto the Direct Express Card, a special debit card for federal payments. Sign up at 1-800-333-1795 or 1-800-772-1213, or at a Social Security office.
