Update:

Millions of Social Security beneficiaries are to receive their July 2026 payment next week, as the Social Security Administration (SSA) continues this month’s three-Wednesdays distribution cycle.

Who receives Social Security on Wednesday, July 15?

Of the 71.3 million Social Security recipients in the U.S., many are paid their benefits on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month, depending on their date of birth.

July 15 is this month’s third Wednesday, so Social Security payments are to be issued to recipients born from the 11th to the 20th of any month.

The complete three-Wednesdays schedule for July 2026 is:

  • Born on 1st-10th of any month: Wednesday, July 8
  • Born on 11th-20th of any month: Wednesday, July 15
  • Born on 21st-31st of any month: Wednesday, July 22

NB: If you claim Social Security based on someone else’s employment history, the SSA uses the other person’s birthday.

What other Social Security payment dates does July 2026 have?

  • July 2: Social Security sent out to certain long-term beneficiaries

Recipients who began claiming Social Security before May 1997 were issued their July benefits on Thursday 2, regardless of their date of birth.

  • July 2: Social Security paid to beneficiaries also on SSI

July 2 was also this month’s Social Security distribution date for beneficiaries who combine the program with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a scheme for certain low-income, low-resource individuals. This month’s SSI, meanwhile, went out on Wednesday, July 1.

Social Security is usually issued to the above long-term and twin recipients on the third of each month, but payment was brought forward because July 3 was a federal holiday.

How much are monthly Social Security benefits?

  • Retirement: $2,029.92
  • Disability: $1,496.16
  • Survivor: $1,631.39

(Average monthly payment, according to stats shared by the SSA.)

How does the Social Security Admin pay out benefits?
