In the U.S., certain benefits recipients are today set to get their latest monthly money, as the Social Security Administration (SSA) completes July’s payment schedule for the Social Security program.

Who receives Social Security today, Wednesday, July 22?

Of the 71 million Social Security beneficiaries nationwide, many are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month, depending on their date of birth.

Today is the fourth Wednesday in July, so Social Security payments are to be sent out to beneficiaries born between the 21st and 31st of any month.

July 2026’s complete three-Wednesdays schedule is:

• Born on 1st-10th of any month: Wednesday, July 8
• Born on 11th-20th of any month: Wednesday, July 15
• Born on 21st-31st of any month: Wednesday, July 22

NB: If you receive Social Security benefits based on someone else’s employment record, the SSA uses the other person’s birthday.

What other Social Security payment dates does July have?

• July 2: Benefits paid to some long-term recipients

Beneficiaries who began receiving Social Security before May 1997 got July’s payment on Thursday 2, regardless of their date of birth.

• July 2: Benefits paid to recipients also on SSI

July 2 was also this month’s Social Security distribution date for beneficiaries who combine the scheme with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a benefits program for certain low-income individuals. July’s SSI was sent out on Wednesday 1.

Social Security is usually paid to the above long-term and dual recipients on the third of the month, but was issued early in July because Friday 3 was a federal holiday.
