The Social Security Administration is today set to send out the next payments on its benefits schedule for July 2026.
Social Security is paid out today, Wednesday, July 8: who benefits?
Across the U.S., certain Social Security recipients are today due to get their latest monthly benefits, as the Social Security Administration (SSA) kicks off July 2026’s three-Wednesdays payment cycle.
Who gets Social Security today, Wednesday, July 8?
Of the U.S.’s 71.2 million Social Security beneficiaries, many are paid on the second, third or fourth Wednesday in each month, depending on their birthday.
Today is this month’s second Wednesday, so Social Security benefits are to be sent out to recipients born between the first and the 10th of any month.
July 2026’s full three-Wednesdays schedule is:
- Born on 1st-10th of any month: Wednesday, July 8
- Born on 11th-20th of any month: Wednesday, July 15
- Born on 21st-31st of any month: Wednesday, July 22
NB: If you receive Social Security based on someone else’s work record, the SSA uses the other person’s birthday.
What other Social Security payment runs are there in July 2026?
- July 2: Social Security paid to some long-term recipients
Beneficiaries who began claiming Social Security before May 1997 were paid for July on Thursday 2, no matter their date of birth.
- July 2: Social Security paid to recipients who also get SSI
July 2 was also this month’s Social Security payment date for beneficiaries who combine the program with Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a scheme for certain low-income individuals. SSI benefits, meanwhile, were due to be distributed on Wednesday, July 1.
Social Security is normally paid out to the above long-term and dual recipients on the third of the month, but distribution was brought forward because July 3 was a federal holiday.
How much are Social Security benefits?
- Retirement: $2,028.00/month
- Disability: $1,493.25/month
- Survivor: $1,626.59/month
(Average benefit, per figures shared by the SSA.)
