Are you still waiting for your June Social Security check? This group will receive theirs on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the Social Security Administration (SSA) will continue making payments to beneficiaries of the various programs it oversees. Benefits have already been sent to those receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and to retirees who began claiming Social Security before May 1997.
Social Security checks will be sent to those with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month this week. For children, spouses, or survivors receiving benefits, the date of their payment will be based on the birthday of the retired worker that made you eligible to receive benefits.
What is the average Social Security benefit in 2024?
In April 2024, the average payment for a retired worker was $1,915.26. However, the average benefit amount for eligible spouses of retired workers drops to $911.42; for eligible children, it drops even further to $893.53. The amounts for surviving family members are slightly higher:

- Disabled widow(er)s: $926.85
- Surviving parent: $1,609.21
The payment amounts for disabled widows(er) are lower because those who receive the benefit are often eligible to claim SSI benefits, which lowers the value of the Social Security checks they can claim.
When will the remaining Social Security checks be sent in June?
The remaining checks will be distributed on Tuesday, 18 June, to those with birthdays between the 11th and the 20th. These checks are going out early because 19 June is Juneteenth, a public holiday in the US. The last round of payments sent to those who have not received a check will arrive on Wednesday, 26 June.
