The question you should always ask your interviewer in a job interview, according to an expert: ‘cuts through the BS’
Here’s what you should always ask in a job interview.
We’ve all been there: the pre-interview nerves. Whether it’s a job you really want or one that you didn’t even remember applying for amid the millions of others, going through the entire process can be galling.
Remembering all those memorised sentences, the numbers, facts and stats — even your own name — can be a challenge to regurgitate to the panel of bosses at the other end of the table, but nothing is scarier than when they ask you the final question:
Have you got any questions for us?
What question should I ask during a job interview?
At this point, after 25 minutes of intense conversation where you’re trying to keep your legs still from tapping the table leg, the managers might as well ask you what lies at the end of the universe. It’s about as easy to answer...
Or is it? The perfect question has been revealed, according to a report from CNBC: "What kind of person should not work at this company?”
The author says that this question “almost always catches managers off guard,” which is “exactly why it works.”
It adds that one must “keep in mind that this question is best saved for the end of your interview process, ideally after you’ve received an offer” as “it can be so disarming to hiring managers” that making sure a good relationship is there first is a key part of it hitting the right note. The writer makes clear that since this question can make managers “get a little defensive”, it must be asked “with just the right tone... you need to sound pleasantly curious, not investigative.”
