After years of legal battles, Prince Harry, formally known as the Duke of Sussex, has won the right to security for himself and his family after his detail was altered by the Home Office in 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic took hold.

The late Queen Elizabeth had given her opinion

One of the documents presented by the legal team for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was a letter from the late Queen Elizabeth. The late Queen and grandmother of Prince Harry had drafted a letter before her death, arguing that it was “imperative” that the couple and their children continue having their security detail, even after deciding to move to the United States. Her Majesty noted the significant security risks faced by the family to justify a security detail. However, these wishes were not respected, forcing friends of the couple, including director Tyler Perry, to offer his own home and security services as a short-term fix as the family situated themselves in Southern California.

The couple faces backlash... again

With Price Harry and Meaghan Markle expected to travel to the United Kingdom in the coming months, the couple has used their win in court to demand a security presence throughout their stay. Many British outlets are slamming the couple for making these “immature demands,” but none detail what the couple has demanded during their stay. These attacks are part of a long battle between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the British tabloid industry.

Mint reported that this decision by the couple has ruffled feathers in the Royal Family as Prince Harry’s father, King Charles, had offered accommodations to the couple at a Royal residence. Such offers from the King were rejected.
