The US Army plans to blow up Tesla vehicles: Elon Musk’s Cybertrucks are the perfect “apocalypse-proof” target.

Elon Musk presents the Cybertrucks as an "apocalypse-proof" model due to its built-in bulletproof panels and windows.

Update:

In a move that blends cutting-edge tech with battlefield realism, the US Air Force is planning to use Tesla Cybertrucks as target vehicles in live-fire simulations. According to recently released contracting documents, the futuristic electric trucks are part of a 33-vehicle procurement list for the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), with testing scheduled to take place at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

Simulating battle scenarios

The goal? To simulate potential threats that US forces might face in future conflicts. Military planners believe adversaries could realistically deploy Cybertrucks in combat scenarios, citing the vehicle’s stainless steel exoskeleton, angular design, and resistance to impact damage as reasons for concern.

The Cybertrucks don’t need to be operational—just intact enough to serve as realistic targets. Once delivered to White Sands, they’ll be subjected to missile strikes to evaluate how well current munitions perform against vehicles with advanced materials and design.

Unlike other vehicle types such as pickup trucks or Bongo vans, the Tesla Cybertruck is mentioned repeatedly throughout official documents. Its inclusion is so critical that authorities note the only requirement is that the vehicle can be towed—its operational condition doesn’t matter.

The study revealed that the Cybertruck’s aggressively angular and futuristic design, along with its unpainted stainless steel exoskeleton, sets it apart from competitors that typically use painted steel or aluminum bodies,” the Air Force Test Center (AFTC) confirmed via The War Zone.

The Cybertruck’s 48-volt battery system delivers power, efficiency, and features that simply can’t be matched by other models. This advanced electrical architecture is part of what makes the vehicle so unique—and potentially more resilient in combat scenarios.

Apocalypse-proof

Originally unveiled by Elon Musk as an “apocalypse-proof” vehicle thanks to its bullet-resistant panels and armored glass, the Tesla Cybertruck is now being eyed by the US Air Force—not for deployment, but for destruction.

Officials believe adversaries could potentially acquire and repurpose the vehicle for combat, prompting the Air Force to request specific Tesla-manufactured units for target vehicle training flight test events.

While Cybertruck sales are currently limited to North America, Tesla plans to expand into Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar—regions with growing interest in high-tech vehicles and potential military applications.

In response to growing interest in militarized versions of the Tesla Cybertruck, some companies have begun offering upgraded models—including one showcased by Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who posted a video featuring a Cybertruck equipped with a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun.
