These celebrities are supporting Zohran Mamdani for mayor of New York City

With just a few weeks to go before New Yorkers vote for their next mayor, Democrat candidate Zohran Mamdani leads the way in the opinion polls.

The 34-year-old holds a 52% margin ahead of Andrew Cuomo (Independent) on 28%. The Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa lies in third place with 14%.

Mamdani, has received endorsements from a number of high-profile political figures, particularly from the progressive wing of the Democratic party with the likes of Kamala Harris (Former Vice President), Bernie Sanders (U.S. Senator), Elizabeth Warren (U.S. Senator), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (U.S. Representative) and Pramila Jayapal (U.S. Representative) all lending their support for Zohran.

While many of these endorsers are prominent public figures, the search results do not explicitly list endorsements from individuals primarily known as celebrities (e.g., in music, film, or television). The main support for Mamdani comes from the political sphere, particularly progressive leaders and major political and labor organizations.

However, Zohran’s personal connection to the film and music industries has brought in support from a notable celebrity in the shape of Madhur Jaffrey. The Indian-American actress, food and travel writer, and cookbook author appeared in Mamdani’s 2019 music video for his song “Nani.” Her high-profile involvement in his cultural project has been highlighted in reports about his political career.
