There are coins and bills in circulation that can be sold to collectors for thousands or even millions of dollars. The better their condition, the higher their price. This is the case for certain US 10-cent coins, some of which could be worth over $3 million. Here’s how to check if you have one.

Hidden fortunes in 10-cent coins

1873-CC MS65

Approximately 18,791 10-cent 1873-CC Arrows Liberty dimes were minted at the Carson City Mint. According to the price guide from the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), these coins in circulation are valued between $2,500 and $75,000. However, in nearly perfect, uncirculated condition, they can sell for up to $552,000, according to GoBankingRates.

1975 ‘No-S’

The 1975 “No-S” proof dime is highly valuable for two key reasons, according to the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). First, it lacks a mint mark, meaning it doesn’t have the letter, symbol, or inscription that indicates where the coin was produced. The second reason is that it is believed to be a proof error, possibly made intentionally. Only two of these rare dimes are thought to exist. One of these coins was sold for $456,000 in 2019.

More on money valuations:

1796 MS67

In 1796, the Philadelphia Mint issued 22,135 dimes. These coins are unique because they feature a small eagle on the reverse. One of these dimes sold for $372,000, according to the PCGS.

1792 MS68

In 1793, the Philadelphia Mint produced 1,500 pieces of the 1792 MS 68, using primarily silver with some copper. It is believed that only 250 of these dimes exist today. In 2013, one of these coins sold for $1,145,625.

1894-S PR66

Issued by the San Francisco Mint, the 1894-S PR66 BM Barber Dime features a reeded edge. Only 24 were minted, and it is known that only nine remain today. In 2016, one of these rare dimes was sold at auction for $1,997,500.

1873-CC MS65

Another notable dime is the 1873-CC MS65 No Arrows Liberty Seated Dime, minted in Carson City, which also features a reeded edge. Around 12,400 of these dimes were produced, but it is believed that only one such dime has been discovered. That single coin was sold at auction for $3.6 million.
