“This Epstein bomb is about to drop” - and Republicans are getting nervous
House Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell claims to have spoken to GOP colleagues who are concerned about President Trump’s links to Jeffrey Epstein.
For months the pressure has been growing on the White House to release the infamous ‘Epstein Files,’ the name given to the findings of a report into the crimes of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Despite promising to release all related documents during his run for office, President Donald Trump has so far failed to do so. Given his own well-documented history with Epstein, many have began to suggest that Trump’s name may feature prominently in the files.
On Wednesday Rep. Eric Swalwell posted on social media, claiming to have heard from multiple Republican members of the House who believe that there is a “Epstein bomb about to drop.”
Rep. Swalwell added: “One Republican just texted me that if there’s a discharge vote on Epstein they expect a “jail break” of over 100 members. Trump will go nuts!"
The House Democrat is referring to the possibility of a Congressional vote on whether or not the files on Epstein and his associates should be ‘discharged.’ For now, it is unlikely that the GOP-controlled House and Senate would do so, but there would certainly be a large amount of public support.
Trump and Epstein moved in many of the same social circles long before Epstein’s criminal cases made headlines. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the two were occasionally seen at the same Palm Beach events and charity functions, though Trump later said he had a falling-out with Epstein and banned him from Mar-a-Lago years before Epstein’s first arrest in 2006.
Trump has denied any involvement in or knowledge of Epstein’s crimes, and there’s no public evidence linking him to Epstein’s illegal activities.
