On Tuesday, April 14, average gasoline prices nationwide fell slightly compared to the previous day, but remain above $4 per gallon, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).
Gasoline prices have risen due to fluctuations in crude oil prices caused by the conflict in Iran. However, after the United States announced a two-week ceasefire, fuel prices have remained around $4 per gallon.
On Monday, oil prices surpassed $100 a barrel after President Donald Trump ordered the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 20% of the world’s oil passes.
By Tuesday, crude prices had fallen again after the president stated that the Iranian government had contacted the administration to discuss a possible agreement. However, if negotiations fail, oil and gasoline prices could rise even further.

In addition to the fluctuation in crude oil prices due to the conflict in Iran, gasoline prices typically rise this time of year due to certain seasonal factors.
Demand usually increases as the summer months approach. Furthermore, the switch to summer gasoline blends raises gasoline prices, as refineries produce a “special” gasoline blend with more expensive additives to reduce evaporation during the warmer months.
As of April 14, the national average price of gasoline is $4.118, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA). Yesterday, April 13, it was $4.125, while last week the average was $4.140 and last month it was $3.675.
