A TikToker who gives financial advice asked people to share their unhinged ways of saving money and she got plenty of responses. Here are some of the best.

Alison Talks Money shares across multiple media platforms what’s she’s learned about building a sustainable lifestyle and long-term wealth. The “firm believer that anyone can live a life they love while still being financially responsible” should know.

She earned an average of $42,000 per year in her twenties but still managed to amass $100k in savings and investments by age 30. However, she adds that she still has had a fulfilling life pursuing her hobbies and work. She recently made a proposition on her TikTok page for money saving tips from viewers and she got some unbelievable responses.

Unhinged ways of saving money

Although she usually gives the advice, she wanted to hear from people about their own ways of saving money. But not just budgeting or avoiding impulse buying. She wanted the most unhinged things people do or think about to keep themselves from spending money or to force themselves to save.

The viral video has been viewed over 3.4 million times and has received close to 9,000 comments. Below are some of the ones that caught her attention.

Think about retirement

I just think of myself old and decrepit trying to work instead of being retired. That usually brings out the saver in me,” wrote keaganeverling.

“Realizing I need $1.2mil to retire and every dollar spent is prolonging the prison sentence,” said Paul Brown.

Play hide-and-seek with your money

“Any time I get unexpected cash, I hide it somewhere in my apartment. Whenever I wanna buy something, I gotta go on a lil treasure hunt to find as much as I can, and that’s what I can spend,” shared Kinnybinny.

Thinking about kids

I pretend I’m a single mother of 5 kids and one of them needs to go to space camp this summer,” posted El.

“i stand in front of whatever i’m buying and picture my future babies growing up homeless on the streets because mommy didn’t save any money. i put my card back in my purse REAL quick,” wrote ashley.

Living in the apocalypse

“If I see something I want to buy I just pretend a stranger has pooped on it,” wrote mykalag24.
